On 20.11.2008, 50 thurumbar leaders from different districts attended the  Legal-aid meeting. Mr.Sheriff and Mr.Ruskin Joseph lawyers animated the Thurumbar leaders from different regions.

Leaders from Kancheepuram,Chengelput, ruvannamalai,Polur,Veeralur,and Villupuram district gathered around 9.00am in Social action centre,Villupuram. Fr.Pappuraj, welcomed the leaders and initiated the gathering, Fr.Francis Bosco, showing Nepalies liberation as a model for the liberation of Thurumbars in Tamilnadu enlightened the leaders. Around 10.30am Mr.Sheriff briefed the leaders on Right to information act and made the leaders to write their complaints and make it a document to submit to the concerned authorities. After lunch Mr.Joseph Ruskin animated on Jurisdictional procedures, different types of courts, giving complaint  to Police station, FIR, taking out bail- details were given. The Thurumbars forum thanked each other for coming together also shared their issues, especially the issue relating to Mr.Irudayam in Kettavaram,Veeralur. The Forum decided to stand for the cause of atrocities done against Mr.Irudayam. Fr.Valan shared about the news of protest on 1.12.2009 in all the districts for the unorganized workers federation. He encouraged all the leaders to participate  in the protest in view of unorgainsed workers claims. The meeting concluded with a song that Thurumbar voices will echo in all the districts of Tamilnadu for liberation.
