Social Action Coordinators use website as tool for Social Ministry

Chennai, Nov. 19. The Centre for Social Action, Vizhupuram organized website-building exercise for the Social Ministry Department of Chennai Province at SIGA Polytechnic College, today. The Field Coordinators from various divisions of Tamil Nadu participated in this workshop that resulted in building up of a new website for the social workers. The Social Action website www.donboscosocialaction.org is used as a tool for social issues of people in Tamil Nadu.

The content of the website is completely managed by the staff of Social Action, Chennai Province. In fact, the banners, menu and the page links were created in collaboration with each other present for the workshop. Each page is edited, managed and controlled by the Coordinators and Managers of the website. Mr.Patric, the Support Team Member of national project assisted the members.
The website is intended to provide internal and external users with personalized, integrated and secure Web-based interfaces to data, applications and collaboration services. This is the venture of Bosco Information Service (BIS India) in collaboration with the Development Offices of South Asia.
Currently the Social Action Ministry has eight regions namely, Chennai, Puducherry, Jawadi, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Kotagiri, Polur and Katpadi. The Centre for Social Action coordinates and animates these regions. Fr. Francis Bosco sdb is the Director and Mr. John Bosco, Manager. This centre is supported by Fr.Mark Vellanganny, The Director of SURABI, Development Head Office of Chennai Province.
Possibility of using Acrobat Connect Pro for monthly meetings of the Social Action Team were explored during the training programme. Fr.P.T.Joseph, National Coordinator of Salesian Websites in South Asia, demonstrated how the virtual video conference can be used for training and for collaboration.
